Day #22 - The Time of Change

forum.xcitefun.net
The problem is that when I think I know what the calorie amounts are of the foods I eat, and I think I know how much energy I have expended, and because I think I know - I don't bother to check the actuality. That is exactly how I've come back to counting the days and blogging about my experience all over again.
Do I see this a s setback? Not really. Rather I see it as an opportunity to prove to myself once again that I can be in full control of my weight.
In light of that, I continuously ask the question, if I'm so darned smart how it is that I gained some the weight again? Well, in answer to that, let me ask you a question, did you read the first sentence to this blog?
Now we both have the answers we're looking for:-)

Day #10 - Ah, the Wonder of Self Sabotage

I like to believe that I am a very honest person, and when it comes right down to it - I really am. The problem is, that while I work diligently to tell others the truth, I sometimes fall into the tendency to tell myself little white lies - so that I can have what I want. Well duh! Anybody relate to that one..?

Yes I'll admit it, an added minute or two tacked onto whatever exercise I get... avoiding noting down a calorie or two on things I eat.  I've done it, and I've done it recently, after which I wonder why the things that I know work for me - don't work!:-) See the pattern here?

As perfect as I am the way I am, I still have the desire to lose a few more pounds. Do I know how to make it happen? Of course I do! Do I sometimes stand in my own way? Uh yeah... I do.

Here, I have all the tools right at hand to do exactly what I want to do, but if I use those tools to bolster inaccurate numbers it's a lot like trying to hammer a nail with a screwdriver. I end up setting myself up to fail. Just great!

No, all is not lost, but let's face it what needs to happen is that I need to come clean with myself and move forward. That's exactly what I'm doing here. Nuff said?

The Digital World Is What You Make Of It

I saw a guy on Good Morning America talking about how we've all become addicted to technology, with people falling into fountains (the original video was way too long so I found a 13second version), and what all.

What got me about the piece was what I see as directly connected with that addiction, is with all the attention being paid to the devices we love, apparently we're not paying attention to what those gadgets can provide to make our lives, as people who wish to control our weight, so much easier.
Sure texting is a wonderful addition to our arsenal of communication tools, but come on work with me here, palm sized computers are just the next step in the march toward connecting directly.

Just install a jack in the side of my head and plug me in! Are people not with me in the idea that once that happens we'll be enabled to make use, not only of more of the brain we were born with, but we'll also have access to all of the infiormation on the planet with nothin' more than the blink of an eye. We will know immediately when that fantastic everything bagle we're stuffing in our gob is equal to X number of calories, as they relate to the number of calories we have available to us for the day. We will know immediately how many laps around the track will be needed to counterbalance that snack. Right?

Right!  What I'm getting at is that we have that ability now, in the palm of our hand, if only we use the small amount of thinking power, we already have, to make use of the information available outside of us.

I say keep on texting while walking. What the hell, at least you'er movin' around:-)

Hey did I mention that I'll be speaking today with Crystal Williamson today (5/7/11) at 10:30 AM Eastern - on her radio show?
